Pressure Required For Punching


Pressure in Tons for m.s steel stock : Diameter of hole to be punched in inches X Thickness of Sheet in inches x 70

Pressure in Tons for Soft metal like Brass etc. : Diameter of hole to be punched in inches X Thickness of Sheet in inches x 55

Example Find the pressure required of punching a hole 3” in diameter through 1/4" m.s steel stock.

Pressure in Tons : 3 x 1/4 “ x 70 = 52 Tons.
